An Air Force Beechcraft King Air 350i  Aircraft with the country’s Chief of Army Staff and other military personnel on board Friday, May 21, evening crashed in Kaduna Northwest Nigeria.

The aircraft carrying the Chief of Air Staff obviously had his wife and ten others abroad, according to the latest report

The crash was believed to have occurred close to the Kaduna Airport suggesting that the aircraft was either taking off or landing

Initial reports have spoken of heavy rainfall during the incident while an unverified video clip showed contrary report as water was seen being pumped on the debris of the aircraft that was still in flames

Reportssay 12 personnel including Nigerian Chief of Army Staff Attahiru Ibrahim were on board. But the military authorities were yet to issue any official statement about the identities of those on board the ill-fated aircraft.

This incident is coming hours after another air mishap involving an ATR 42 in Benin City, Edo State capital, South-south Nigeria while preparing for landing.

The Air Force spokesperson in a tweet on Friday evening confirmed that an air crash involving the service aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport.

“The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained,” Edward Gabkwet, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information wrote.

Nigerian Air Force operates about four Beechcraft King Air 350i aircraft used for transport, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance missions across the country.

On March 31, a Nigerian Air Force Alpha jet providing combat support to Nigerian troops went down in the Sambisa forest in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.

10) In Feb., an Air Force Beechcraft KingAir B350i aircraft -NAF 201 with seven personnel on board crashed while returning to the Abuja Airport after reporting engine failure en-route Minna, Niger State.
