Initial reports have spoken of heavy rainfall during the incident while an unverified video clip showed contrary report as water was seen being pumped on the debris of the aircraft that was still in flames

This incident is coming hours after another air mishap involving an ATR 42 in Benin City, Edo State capital, South-south Nigeria while preparing for landing.

The Air Force spokesperson in a tweet on Friday evening confirmed that an air crash involving the service aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport.

“The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained,” Edward Gabkwet, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information wrote.
