A health based Non –Governmental Organisation under the aegis of Hadiza Ozozoma Care Foundation has organized a medical outreach to the indigent people of Karonmajiji a rural community located in the Abuja Municipal Area Council in the Federal Capital City in Nigeria. The medical outreach which took place at the LEA Primary School Karonmajiji on the 18th of May 2024 was largely attended by the aged, youths and children predominantly amongst who are women and young adults. Founder of the Foundation Mrs Hadiza Seaman disclosed that the purpose of the medical outreach is to sensitize the people especially the women and young adults on life threatening diseases particularly the human Papiloma virus which is mostly transmitted by indiscriminate sexual relationship. She said that many of the vulnerable women and young adults who live in such crowded communities do not understand the dangers of such diseases to their body especially as they are prone to indiscriminate sexual relationship and this if not properly managed could lead to cervical cancer.
In her words Mrs. Seaman said ‘What we do in HOCF is to identify communities within and around the FCT that are prone to life threatening diseases by virtue of the kind of environment they live and the high population and as soon as we locate them we move in to organize medical outreach through which we sensitize them on the ills and dangers of these diseases, offer them free medical test, free consultations and free drugs. You can see what is happening here at the primary school now. They started by registration, they present themselves for brief counseling after which they undergo various free medical test before they are allowed to see our Doctors for free consultations. After prescription by our medical Doctors they move next to our pharmacists who are seated by that extreme end to collect free drugs prescribed for them. This is followed most times by welfare packages and distribution of food items to the people. These are basically the stages of our activities each time we go out for medical outreaches. We also create an interlude in between these activities during which a professional gives a medical talk like the one that is currently going on as you can see.’
The Founder further said that her foundation is passionately committed as a care group to impact indigent persons in communities and to help in their own little way to meet the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of the people. She said that the current situation in the country and the harsh economic reality has propelled her foundation to always look for ways to help ameliorate the plight of the indigent and less privileged people in our communities. Mrs Hadiza Seaman appealed to the Government, Corporate Organization and well spirited individuals to support the activities of health based Non- Governmental Organization like HOCF with funds, drugs and other essential materials to encourage them to do more because presently they deploy their meager resources to be able to carry out their humanitarian activities.
Also speaking the Chief of Karonmajiji His Royal Highness Dauda Dogo was full of appreciation for the care and kind gesture extended to his community by Hadiza Ozozoma Care Foundation which according to him has given the people of the community a sense of belonging. He encourage other humanitarian and philanthropic Organizations to emulate the good deeds of the HOCF and come to the aid of his community, The medical outreach benefitted over 178 indigent persons in the community made up 98 adults and 84 children.
