A gang of armed men on Sunday evening kidnapped four members of a family, including a father, his two children and another family member at Iju-Itaogbolu in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo state.
The four victims were abducted while travelling from Ado Ekiti to Akure to attend a church programme when they ran to the roadblock mounted by the armed kidnappers.
According to a source, the four victims who were travelling in a Space bus with three other passengers were unlucky as the three other passengers ran away immediately after the vehicle was stopped.
He explained that the vehicle was stopped at a very bad spot very close to a popular Secondary school in the town saying the kidnappers forcefully dragged the father, his two children and the family member into the bush.
He said the armed started shooting into the air to scare the residents of the area while they marched the victims into the forest.
He, however, said men of Amotekun Corps in the state who got wind of the incident chased the hoodlums, but they were said to have escaped into Ekiti state forest with the victims.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Funmilayo Odunlami, who could not confirm the abduction of the four family members said the information available is still sketchy, saying it was not too clear whether the incident happened in Ondo or Ekiti State territory.
She, however, said the police from the command had swung into action to investigate the incident.
