Why we picked Obiora Okonkwo as ZLP Guber Candidate – ZLP National Chairman

The National Chairman of Zenith Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu has revealed why the party picked¬† ¬†Dr Obiora Okonkwo as it’s gubernatorial candidate in the November Anambra election.

Speaking during the official unveiling of the candidate and his deputy, Dame Jessie Belonwu as the flag bearers of the party at its National Secretariat in Abuja, Iwuanyanwu disclosed that the choice was deliberate.

According to him, ‘we searched and picked him because we saw in him someone who would not be taking from the state but giving back to the state. He has the financial and economic muscle to attract investments, bring back the golden days and make the state great again. He is a trusted and tested hand. His successes are there for all to see’.
‘This is an opportunity Zenith Labour Party must not miss. We are doing the unveiling to show the candidate to run as Governor and his deputy Governorship candidate who are both men and women of impeccable character’, he added.

Speaking further, Iwuanyanwu said, ‘there must debate among the gubernatorial candidates, you must come and tell Anambra people what you have done for them in public and private service wherever you have been since and there must be no proxy debate. ‘You must come and debate and tell the people what you have done for them and what you want to do for them.

In his own acceptance speech, Dr Obiora Okonkwo dcleclaree that all he had in his 10-point agenda for Anambra State are things he had practised as a private citizen in his own businesses and so it is just like taking it to a larger platform.

Having been blessed so much as a son of the State, he sees the opportunity as a way of giving back to the society and taking Anambrarians from the rot of the past seven years.

Going spiritual, the gubernatorial candidate revealed that he firmly believes that whoever God ordains will win the election in November and he sees the hand of God propelling him to serve the people.
